Obituary for Frances L. Bibbens

FRANCES L. BIBBENS
Frances Louise Gibson was born August 1, 1937 in Clio, Alabama to the late Friendella and Raymond Gibson.
Frances attended Clio Public Schools in Alabama where she excelled academically, graduating 1 year ahead of her class.
Frances grew up attending Saint Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church in Clio, Alabama where she served faithfully.
When she moved to Pittsburgh, she met and later married Calvin Van Bibbens. To this union, they had three children, Carol, Francine and Calvin, Jr.
Frances was a loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother. She was a member of the PTA where she regularly attended meetings and assisted with events and field trips. As the Tenant Council President, she helped some get jobs when they came in her community. She assisted with the Summer Lunch Program every year.
She loved taking her kids on trips to Alabama to visit her Parents and siblings. She also looked forward to travelling to the different cities to attend the Annual Capel-McBride Reunions.
She was an active member of Bethel A.M.E. Church where she served on the Usher Board No. 2, The Senior Gospel Choir and the Women’s Missionary Society. She also brought her grandkids to Bethel where they learned to serve the Lord like their Granny.
She loved everybody that crossed her path. She was known for her southern accent, feisty personality and country sayings.
Peacefully on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 Frances went home to be with our Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents; Friendella and Raymond Gibson, Siblings; Mary McCray, Joseph Gibson, Juanita Gibson and her Husband, Calvin Bibbens.
